Niku Nashi

Brand & Marketing Creative Director
Oct 2021 - Jan 2024

Niku Nashi is a visionary plant-based sushi concept from chef Niko Zaragoza, operating in collaboration with DCB Hospitality’s A Plant Bar on Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. Offering a bold, fully vegan take on Japanese cuisine, Niku Nashi reimagines traditional flavors through a creative, sustainable lens.

I was brought on to shape the brand’s identity from the ground up, overseeing branding, website design, photography, and day-to-day marketing. The logo, inspired by botanical illustrations of seaweed, set the tone for a visual language rooted in nature, refinement, and innovation. I also designed menus and ongoing promotional graphics, ensuring a cohesive presence across print, digital, and in-store materials.

Both& Swimwear Launch

I creative directed, produced, and shot Both&’s first-ever swimsuit launch on 35mm film in Santa Monica. It was all about capturing movement, confidence, and joy—real moments that feel effortless and true. This campaign is about more than just swimsuits—it’s about feeling seen, feeling good, and taking up space.

Both& at Home

I photographed and interviewed non-binary and trans folks in LA for a Both& photojournalism project, exploring the power of wearing clothes that actually fit—both physically and emotionally. Everyone wore pieces from Both&, but this wasn’t about fashion in the usual sense. It was about the feeling of ease, confidence, and recognition that comes with wearing masc clothing designed for your proportions. Through conversation and imagery, this project captured the quiet but radical act of feeling at home in what you wear—and in yourself.

Print & Brand Collateral

From zines to billboards, I designed print collateral and internal documents that helped shape Both&’s identity and amplify its mission. Whether it was crafting pitch decks to secure partnerships, designing flyers and clothing tags that felt as intentional as the garments themselves, or creating zines that celebrated community stories, every piece was rooted in clarity, impact, and representation.
